Startel Tanzania Limited is not responsible for wrong numbers, quality of service or misuse of service.

Validity of all accounts are upto 60 days from first use.

Access number: The access number is a phone number you dial to enter the calling card system. In Tanzania the (022) 2127123 number that places you on the calling card network and allows you to make cost effective calls. Generally your access number is found on the back of the phone card.

Balance: The account balance is either the number of remaining minutes or remaining credit units available on a prepaid calling phone card.

Billing increments: The billing increment is unit of time, often one minute with prepaid calling cards which are used to determine the cost of a call. Please note that with a one minute increment, the duration of your call is rounded up to the next minute, i.e. a 3 minute and 30 second call is billed as 4 minutes.

"Bong charge" (connection fee): A bong charge is a surcharge that some carriers apply every time you make a call. It received the name 'bong,' not because of some flashback to college pot smoking days, but to the sound heard when using ATT calling cards, as once you dial your calling card, the ATT computer would confirm with an audible "BONG" sound.

Calling card service: A calling card service allows you to make long distance and international calls by dialing an access number (above) and obtaining low cost rates by using the calling card network.

Payphone surcharge: Since calling cards are typically accessed via local landline or cell numbers, local phone companies charge you for the access time.

Prepaid calling card: A prepaid calling card is a phone card with a fixed number of minutes or value (or units), typically comes in denomination of US Dollar 5, 10 and 25 that you pay for in advance of using the service.

Surcharge: Any charge, above the normal per minute cost that applies to your calling card calls.

Virtual calling card: A virtual calling card is typically an online service that immediately provides you with an access code, but no actual calling card - similar to ticket-less billing.

Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP): VOIP allows customers to use the internet to place phone calls.

Call Delivery: Any or all calls that have been answered by the recipient. Please be noted that wrong destination numbers are counted as call delivered.
